Squelchy remixes Cubik & OrigamiOriginally known for the slow-burning downtempo funk of their eponymous debut on Wide Hive Records, San Francisco duo Cubik & Origami are back with a new, truly stunning long-player titled "Slept in on Doomsday" which has just been released on Dinner Party Records. I'm pleased to have contributed a remix of the title track which is available for free download at the Cubik and Origami website. Check it out the remixes here: And get the full album here: By mike at 2008-11-15 17:09 | mike's blog | login to post comments
Medling Again is finally hereI know I promised this a LONG time ago (seriously, about 9 mos.) and then completely dropped the ball on it, but at long last, I've posted a "Release" for Medling Again. Basically, I added meta-data. That's right, it took me 9 mos. to add m3u tags! Actually, there were extenuating circumstances regarding the late release, but that's neither here nor there, and I want to heartily apologize the the contributors for not getting this out sooner. Thanks to everyone who took the time to participate in this remix. Look at it this way.. it's almost like a double promotion at this point. Anyway, check it out if you haven't already: By dsl at 2008-03-02 23:30 | dsl's blog | login to post comments
New Release: Sometime is NowWith DSL's prodding, and a healthy amount of free time on my hands, I entered the RPM Challenge as well. Sometime is Now is the result. The album is part goth disco, part glam rock, part emo-tronica and all personal. By mike at 2008-02-28 16:20 | mike's blog | login to post comments
New Release: ChallengedI just posted my submission for "The RPM Challenge". That's right, a whole album, 10 songs, in one month. Something I haven't managed to do in over a decade, so I guess it's about time. Check out what a highly motivated and stressed someone can come up with when put in a pressure cooker: By dsl at 2008-02-28 12:00 | dsl's blog | login to post comments
new trackmy first recorded track with my new sonic choppy toy. 4 instances of a little sample-based instrument i made in pd, based losely on the dr.rex from reason and heavily on the work of miller pucket (the core of the phase-locked vocoder pd example is what i abstracted and used as the sample playback engine) all sequencing is the result of random-seed computations with a little guidance from yous truly. enjoy!
